How Many People Live In America

The world is developing rapidly.  You could see the changes everywhere.  There are a lot of changes with consumer technology, fashion, media, and other things.  You may seem to wonder where the trend of worldwide change begins or ends, but when you look at it closely, you can find that the source of global change is the United States of America.  Truly America is the center of the universe today.  You could safely assume that this country is the center of the world's trade and industry.  With the latest innovations in military technology and with the country's influence with world commerce, America stands as a world power.  For this reason, a lot of people want to be a part of the land of the free.  Various immigrations and even incidents of human smuggling have been reported in America, and this fact makes me wonder how many people live in America?

To answer the question “How many people live in America?”  We have to consider the factors that contribute to the increase and decrease of the country's population which are birth, death, and migration.  Since birth and death are of common knowledge let us just focus on the concept of migration which could be divided into legal and illegal migration. Immigration is the legal kind of migration which is said to be one of the major reasons for the increase of population in America.  The significant increase in the number of immigrants happened after the liberalization of immigration policy in the year 1965.  When this policy was approved, the number of immigrants has increased for at least four times the average number of immigrants before the policy was declared.

Another important factor which contributes to the number of people living in America is people smuggling.   People or human smuggling is the practice of making people cross international borders illegally.  Some of the major reasons why people undergo this process are to get out of poverty, escape a conflict, a natural disaster, or persecution, and to seek new opportunities in a foreign land.

Because of these factors the growth in population in the United States is steadily increasing.  These factors are greatly considered by statisticians in computing for an accurate account of the number of people living in the United States.  For this article we will consider the findings of the US bureau of Census.  The bureau computed the number of people as of December 2010 and the answer to the question “How many people live in America?” is 310,955,105.  The factors used for this estimate are the number of people born which is one person for every 7 seconds, the number of deaths which is one person for every 12 seconds, the number of migrants which is one for every 37 seconds, and the net gain of every person which is one for every 13 seconds.
